de minimis loophole meets its match!

BrandMX brings this WSJ article and the proposal of a new law to address the “de minimis” provision to the attention of global brands that ship products directly to U.S. consumers from their respective domicile countries.

de minimis threshold per U.S. trade provisions allows for goods to flow into the country with little scrutiny and no duties for shipments under $800, but this is about to change. Brands that ship products directly to end customers in the U.S. should be aware of this and plan for alternate, i.e., local arrangements.

While the article talks about Temu and Shein which represent a large share of de minimis shipments from China, the new laws will apply to more countries and extend to other classes of goods.

BrandMX offers a ready alternative and a seamless solution which is why several international brands work with us for sales, marketing, and fulfillment, and more brands are extending this to B2C fulfillment as well.
